I was watching Emily in Paris a few days ago, and one thing that got me super excited was that I was able to recognize all the French pastries Lilly Collins tries in the latest season. The TV show reminded me of my last year’s travels in France when I started having its mouth-watering pastries for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between.

I have to say, the French pastries truly make Paris one of the best culinary destinations in the world. If you’re looking forward to your upcoming trip to France, make sure you try these popular French pastries.

Macarons

One of the most appetizing desserts I’ve tried in Paris is macarons. They’re so popular and loved by people that they’re available in almost every part of the world today. However, if you’d like to taste and enjoy authentic macaron, make sure you buy a box of them in France.

For those who don’t know, macarons are a combination of biscuits and cakes made with the perfect amount of sugar, flour, egg white, and rich cream for the ultimate taste and texture. These pastries come in multiple flavors and hints for anyone with a sweet tooth.

When I asked about the history of macarons in France, they told me it was initially a product of Italy. However, a couple of Italian nuns began selling them extensively in France in the late 1700s, ultimately turning them into French pastries.

Profiterole

If you’re all about trying new desserts with chocolate, you should undoubtedly try a profiterole. This is one of the oldest yet the most flavorful pastry you’ll ever find in Franch. On the outside, it looks like any other French pastry. However, it’s filled with sauces made out of chocolate, ice cream, whipped cream, condensed milk, and custard to give you the ultimate burst of flavors as soon as you take a bite.

Bakers in Paris continue to customize their recipes by decorating them with powdered sugar and icing options. For me, this pastry was a 12/10.

Pain Au Chocolat

If you’re all about trying food items and desserts that are simple yet appetizing, the Pain Au Chocolat should be on your must-try list. Many French bakers even offer these loaves of bread with chocolate fillings as breakfast to tourists and travelers.

It has become a cultural dessert in France ever since its introduction in the early 19th century.
