If there’s a more fitting synonym for life, it would be “ups and downs”. There’s no one with the most perfect life. In fact, everyone is undergoing a unique experience like a rollercoaster in life with just as many happy moments as downturns and disappointments. Everything we experience in life is a source of unexpected emotion and the development of our ability to learn and grow from it. It can be significantly challenging to navigate through life when you’re unable to acknowledge the existence of ups and downs in it. Acceptance of life’s realities brings peace and gives us the golden opportunity to pursue our dreams along with endless opportunities.

Challenges, hurdles, and failures are often inevitable in life. The more time you spend mourning such situations, the more difficult it will be for you to move forward in life. As some who has seen failure multiple times in her life, I always try to connect with my readers by encouraging them never to give up and do whatever they can to pursue their goals no matter what life throws at them.

I’ve seen people reach great heights of success when they’ve accepted the harsh reality of life and used multiple activities as a source of inspiration to keep moving forward in life. Some people frequently listen to motivational music to remain physically and mentally stimulated. In contrast, many others rely on motivational speeches by renowned thinkers to understand innovative ideas about professional and personal growth.

As effective as these sources of inspiration are, they can never be as powerful as a motivational book that often serves as a guidebook for readers struggling with various aspects of their lives. For this reason, I’ve drafted a list of all the books you should check out and read to stay motivated, even on bad days. I hope they can help you become a better version of yourself, just as they helped me with similar goals. Keep reading to learn more details about some of my favorite motivational books.

The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist is one of the most popular and influential books I’ve ever read in my entire life. I wouldn’t be lying if I said this is one of the few books that changed my outlook on life and how I’ve started making important life decisions in a world like ours. Unlike other motivational books, The Alchemist doesn’t dictate or advise you on the dos and don’ts of life. Instead, Paul Coelho has written this extremely inspirational story of a young boy who embarks on a journey to discover himself and everything he truly wishes for.

This classic novel is known, appreciated, and read by millions of readers and thinkers all over the world. The story has such incredibly powerful aspects of life-changing lessons, wisdom, and mysticism by the Alchemist himself that you might not feel like going back to self-doubting behavior when you’re done with it.

The Four Agreements — Don Miguel Ruiz

A few days ago, I was scrolling Facebook and came across a post that said, “I miss the joyful, funny, and talkative person I used to be before life happened and took it all away from me.” This instantly reminded me of the book The Four Agreements I read a couple of months ago. I read it at a time when I was extremely vulnerable and was consistently giving my insecurities and fears the power to make me feel dull, unworthy, and unexcited about life.

As the title suggests, the book consists of a manual with four primary agreements that one needs to make with themselves and the universe to stop suffering because of our own limiting beliefs and assumptions. This book is unique and straightforward in terms of its tone and ability to compel the reader to bring an impactful change into their life.

Sometimes you need expert advice to truly understand what your mind, soul, and body need to lead a fulfilled life with success and happiness. If you’re going through a rough patch in your personal and professional life, you may find the perfect formula for combating your problems in this book about grit and its significance. She has used her years of work experience and research to write this book in which she unveils the secret to true success. According to her, the only thing standing in the way of an individual finding success in life is grit. Mindset: The New Psychology for Success — Carol S. Dweck

Speaking of books by experienced psychologists, another incredible book that significantly helped me learn about getting on the road to success is Mindset by Carol S. Dweck. This book revolves around the idea of transforming your outlook on life and your overall mindset to make any achievement possible, regardless of how unachievable it may seem.

She talks about the power of the human mindset and how its energy influences our ability to work towards our goals. In this book, you’ll primarily learn about the major differences between a fixed mindset and a mindset based on personal growth and development. It’ll ultimately allow you to engage in brain exercises that contribute toward an enhanced mindset for ultimate success.

The Power of Positive Thinking: 10 Traits for Maximum Results — Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

We often take life for granted when we fail to get what we expect from it. Sometimes life doesn’t seem worthwhile and you’re on the brink of giving up once and for all. This book is one of the best reads for anyone trying to pursue happiness by being fully satisfied with their lives.

The main idea of this book is that it’s essential to have 100% faith and belief in oneself when you’re trying to stay determined while chasing your dreams. With characteristics like power and patients, your positive attitude towards life can go a long way in helping you cherish each moment like it’s your last.

Girl Stop Apologizing — Rachel Hollis

If you’re a woman reading this, you’ll know how scary and exhausting it is to live up to your potential with all the pressure to be the perfect version of yourself at all times. Due to these challenges, we often find ourselves apologizing time and time again for our weaknesses and flaws. This book addresses the idea of not being enough as a female and why it’s important to embrace yourself as a woman without feeling sorry about your failures.
