Food blogging has become quite competitive, and curating an aesthetically pleasing, informative blog post alone isn’t enough to get traffic. Even if you have the most delicious recipes with appetizing pictures, they won’t reach your target audience without promotion.

I’ve been running my food blogging website for quite some while now—here are some things that help me bring the most traffic to my blogs.

Make the Most of Email Marketing

Email marketing is the perfect way to engage your audience and inform them about your recent blogs. For this, you need to build an email list. Start by offering a free eBook or any other reward in exchange for your website visitors’ email addresses. You can also promote the sign-up form on social media platforms. Write a compelling copy and give people a reason to sign up for your emails.

Guest Posting

Guest posting/blogging is an effective way to promote your blogging website on other high-traffic websites. For this, you need to write a blog post for another website or blog, preferably in your niche, in exchange for them linking back to your site. Make sure you choose a reputable, high-traffic website to get better exposure and build your backlink portfolio.

Pinterest

Pinterest is the most effective social media platform to increase traffic for your food blog. It’s a visual platform where you can post aesthetically pleasing food photos linking them to your blogs. Make sure each picture is appetizing and relevant to the blog or recipe you’re linking to. You also need to add relevant keywords in your title and descriptions. If you’re on WordPress, use rich pins so your recipes include the complete information when users pin them. If not, you can use tools like Tasty Pins, which will add this functionality to your website.

Link to Other Recipes

Add relevant links to other recipes when writing your blog posts. For example, if you’re writing about a meat dish, link recipes for side dishes that work well with it. Doing this will promote your other blogs, and people can easily access them. This tip isn’t limited to recipe blog posts, be sure to link your content to each post for better exposure.

You can also promote your blogs by linking them to other bloggers’ content. Don’t use their pictures—just add a link to their recipe with anchor text to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues. Suppose you’re writing a blog on “5 winter comfort foods to keep you warm.” You can link each dish’s recipe to your own blogs and other bloggers’ recipes.

Appetizing food for breakfast

There are many ways to promote your food blog; what works for others may not always work for you. Experiment with different methods and stick to what generates the best results, but try not to overwhelm yourself!
